The Utah Chapter of the NAHB Professional Women in Building is designing and constructing a home that will be showcased in the 2021 Utah Valley Parade of Homes (June 3rd-19, 2021). The goal for this home is to highlight and utilize women professionals, skilled tradeswomen, and women-owned companies for all stages of the project.
The design team, comprised of skilled draftswomen, designers and engineers have completed plans for a two-story home with approximately 3,200 square feet of living space including a finished basement. The eclectic, contemporary farmhouse style of The House That SHE Built represents the collaboration of the women in our industry and the varied talents and abilities of each.

Strength, courage, grit, determination, balance, color and resilience are all represented within this ambitious project and the women who have been involved in bringing it to life.
The House That SHE Built is in Saratoga Springs UT- a highly amenitized masterplan development by Oakwood Homes- who have served as a partner and major sponsor on the project.
The proceeds from the sale of the home following the Parade will be divided between scholarships, women-run charities, and future home projects like The House That SHE Built. The scholarships will account for 60% of the total profit and will be awarded to women pursuing construction management related degrees or trade school programs. The scholarship fund will be administered by a Utah PWB committee. 20% of the profits will be used by the Utah PWB for education initiatives and future building events. The remaining 20% will be donated to a local woman-centric charity,Life Start Village Family Support Center.
Meet my guests: Kristi Allen (general contractor behind the project) and Mollie Elkman (the branding badass and creator of the children’s book).

Kristi Allen is a general contractor and the owner of WoodCastle Homes. She was lucky to grow up in the home building industry as the third generation of family-owned home builder, McArthur Homes, where she worked for over 13 years. In 2016, Kristi began her biggest home building adventure yet when she started WoodCastle Homes. She quickly learned that building new homes is both more rewarding, and more challenging, than she ever expected. Currently, Kristi is doing her best to balance building new custom homes for her amazing clients, spending lots of time with her three busy kids, serving as the chair of the Utah PWB and acting as the General Contractor on The House That She Built. She hopes to show girls and women that there’s a space for them in this awesome homebuilding industry, and it’s a great place to be!
Can’t get enough of Kristi? Come see her during the upcoming TecHome Builder Summit in Louisville, KY on August 17-19, 2021. Shoot me an email if you’re a builder and would like to attend this event [email protected]

Mollie Elkman is the owner and President of GroupTwo Advertising.
A natural-born leader with a remarkable knack for cultivating community, Mollie knows that “you are made up of the people you surround yourself with.” When she looks around at her team and the builders that she works with, she feels humbled knowing that she’s pushed to be a better version of herself every day.
From traveling to Israel and Ghana by herself in her 20’s, to becoming a working mom within her family business, every one of Mollie’s experiences, whether inside or outside of work, have shaped her sense of human connection and what g2 means to her. When she’s not running the best company of all, you can find Mollie enjoying a Sweetgreen salad or a walk outside with her two children and her husband, Daniel.
Mollie is also a speaker on all subjects pertaining to builder marketing, and works with a wide range of audiences from small team training sessions to major conferences.
